Ulaanbaatar, December 10, 2025 /MONTSAME/. A working group tasked with accelerating the implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Program of Mongolia convened on December 9, 2025, at the State Palace.
Under a directive issued by the Prime Minister, the working group was established to step up implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Program, strengthen the justice system, significantly reduce corruption and abuse of office, improve the legal environment for preventing corruption and conflicts of interest, identify the factors behind Mongolia’s steadily declining score and ranking in Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index in recent years, implement the organization’s recommendations, eliminate bureaucratic obstacles, protect investor rights, improve the business climate, and restore violated rights.
The
Prime Minister also issued a separate directive on measures to strengthen
justice in society and combat corruption and abuse of office. The directive
emphasizes the need to reinforce commitment, leadership, and transparency in
anti-corruption efforts at all levels, and obliges Cabinet members, ministry
secretaries, heads of government agencies, provincial, capital city, district,
and soum governors, and all civil servants to uphold integrity and avoid
corruption and conflicts of interest. Stressing that ministry secretaries must
lead anti-corruption efforts, the Prime Minister instructed officials to prioritize the public interest. He also announced that 2026
will be designated the “Year of Strengthening Discipline and Accountability in
the Civil Service.”
The
working group is chaired by First Deputy Chief of Cabinet Secretariat Munkh-Erdene
Dembereltseren and includes the state secretaries of all ministries. During the
meeting, members reviewed progress on plans to combat corruption, address the
root causes of corruption and abuse of office, and prevent conflicts of
interest.
In
connection with International Anti-Corruption Day,
officials from the Independent Authority Against Corruption (IAAC) also
attended the meeting and exchanged views on the implementation of the National
Anti-Corruption Program, approved by Parliament.
