Ulaanbaatar, December 15, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The WDSF World Formation Latin Championships was held in Vienna, Austria, where Mongolia’s “Moon Dance” team claimed a bronze medal.
A total of 13 teams from eight countries competed in this prestigious championship. Mongolia was represented by the “Moon Dance” and “Star” teams, both of which advanced to the semifinals and finished among the top six. The semifinal stage featured two teams each from Mongolia and Germany, and one team each from Austria and Ukraine. Competing under the leadership of Sarankhuu Ochirkhuu and Oyunbat Oyuntsetseg, the “Moon Dance” team earned the bronze medal with their performance titled “Chinggis Khaan.” The music arrangement and choreography for the piece were curated by Ton Greten.
Judges noted that the “Chinggis Khaan” dance stood out from European teams in terms of its tone, expression, and conceptual depth. Members of the “Moon Dance” team stated:
“Rather than conforming to uniform themes and choreography, we aimed to elevate formation dance to a new level through national thinking, history, and inner strength. The world is constantly changing, and dance is the same. Mongolia itself is a powerful distinction. Having our own history, culture, language, clothing, sounds, breath, and even gaze is an immense value and strength. We wanted to show this on stage. This is a bold declaration of ‘We are Mongolian’ on the world stage. We sought to demonstrate that Mongolian heritage can be reborn in a modern language, that history can become a movement, and that it can speak to the world on equal terms.”
Just a week earlier, the team had also won a bronze medal at the Standard Formation Dance World Championship held in Germany. As a result, they are returning home with two bronze medals earned at two international competitions held a week apart. Below are photos from the competition.

In addition, Mongolia’s second representative at the championship, the “Star” team, finished in a prize-winning fourth place. They competed with a performance titled “Agape – When Love Dances Shine,” showcasing the intellect and creative thinking of the Mongolian people, and successfully presenting the skill and caliber of their dancers on the world stage.
