Business Council of Mongolia issues joint press release with NGOs on COVID-19
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Due to the rapid decline of the economy and rising short-term difficulties for businesses as a result of COVID-19, business advocate organizations and associations have released a joint statement demanding immediate, comprehensive measures be taken and that the proposals put forth by the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI) to mitigate risks and protect business and employment be implemented.

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On 18 March 2020, H.E. Mr. Tugsbilguun Tumurkhuleg, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific /ESCAP/, paid a call on H.E. ADB provides $1.4 Million to strengthen Mongolia's COVID-19 preparedness
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has reallocated $1.4 million from a health project in Mongolia to procure essential medical equipment for early detection, emergency care, and management of severe respiratory diseases in wake of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

World Bank Group increases COVID-19 response to $14 billion
The World Bank and IFC’s Boards of Directors approved on March 17 an increased $14 billion package of fast-track financing to assist companies and countries in their efforts to prevent, detect and respond to the rapid spread of COVID-19. The package will strengthen national systems for public health preparedness, including for disease containment, diagnosis, and treatment, and support the private sector.

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Not long after Mongolia confirmed its fifth coronavirus case late yesterday, March 17, the sixth case of coronavirus was reported by the Ministry of Health today, March 18 at its daily 11 AM press briefing on the situations around the coronavirus outbreak.

‘Munkhiin Tun’ LLC produces 45 thousand masks daily
The World Health Organization recommends regular usage of face masks in order to take preventive measures against the ‘COVID-19’ novel coronavirus that is transmitted through droplets in the air. Countries are having factories work at its full capacity to meet their domestic demand for face masks. During this difficult time, the only face mask factory in the country is operating 24/7, providing 45 thousand face masks each day.

Mongolian citizens return from Russia to cross border through Altanbulag, Tsagaannuur border checkpoints
An operative team of the State Emergency Commission yesterday reported that Mongolian nationals, who are residing and studying in the Russian Federation, are possible to cross the  border of Mongolia only through Altanbulag-Khiagt, Tsagaannuur-Tashanta border checkpoints when returning to their home country.

Livestock loss increased in February
In Mongolia, the number of natural losses of adult livestock reached 174.0 thousand heads in the first two months of 2020, increased by 8.1 (4.9%) thousand heads compared with the same period of the previous year. In February 2020, the number of natural losses of livestock amounted to 125.3 thousand heads that made up 72.0 percent of total natural losses of livestock as of the first two months.
