Mongolian Ambassador pays courtesy call on Crown Prince of Kuwait
On Tuesday, April 25, Z.Chintushig, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the State of Kuwait paid a courtesy call on Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Crown Prince of Kuwait. Conveying the warm greetings from Ts.Elbegdorj, President of Mongolia to the Crown Prince of Kuwait, Ambassador Z.Chintushig expressed his belief that the Crown Prince will support broadening the future bilateral cooperation between Mongolia and Kuwait. Also, the Ambassador of Mongolia noted that the people of Mongolia appreciate the Government of Kuwait for providing soft loan for the infrastructure projects in Mongolia”.

French company to study possibility of solar plant at Auto Trade Complex
A study on possibility to establish solar power plant on an open parking area of the Auto Trade Complex will be conducted by “Akyo Energy” company of the French Republic.  Today, April 25, a memorandum of understanding was signed by Governor of the Capital and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar City S.Batbold, Chairman of Auto Trade Complex, local government-owned company O.Mungunshagai and a representative of the Akyo Energy Company.

Umnugobi aimag “to be relocated”
Emergency workers from Umnugobi aimag in cooperation with the National Emergency Management Agency of Mongolia will relocate the city of Dalanzadgad, provincial center of Umnugobi aimag. This is the preparation for the “Gobi Wolf” international disaster response exercise which will be held on May 04.

Khanbogd soum of Umnugobi aimag now has drinking water facility
“Oyu Tolgoi” LLC has built a bulk water facility in Khanbogd soum of Umnugobi aimag, which will provide safe, clean drinking water to Khanbogd with a 6.6km network of pipeline distributing water across the town. The facility will support the future development of Khanbogd soum by supplying water to over 13,000 residents and has the potential to be further expanded to ensure water consumption of 35 thousand citizens in the future.

Antler gathering prohibited in forest steppe areas
D.Oyunkhorol, Minister of Environment and Tourism has issued a resolution to prohibit antler gathering in the forest steppe zones during the dry season of spring in order to prevent fire hazard. The resolution is valid annually from March 20 through June 10 and between September 20 and November 10.  Since the beginning of this year, a total of 35 forest fires has occured nationwide caused by people travelling in the area, collecting antlers or harvesting pine nuts.

Mongolia tourist arrivals reaches 76.6 thousand in first quarter of 2017
Mongolia’s Visitor Arrivals recorded 629.3 thousand persons in the first quarter of 2017 and 552.8 thousand of them were permanent residents. In relation to the data, Tourist Arrivals recorded 76.6 thousand, which is 12 percent of the Visitor Arrivals. According to the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, the number reached an all-time high of 475.8 thousand in 2012.

Permanent Representative to International Maritime Organization presents letter of credence
On April 20, S.Bayar, Ambassador of Mongolia to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland presented his letter of credence to Kitack Lim, Secretary-General of International Maritime Organization (IMO) as a Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the IMO. After handing over the letter of credence to the IMO Secretary-General, the two parties exchanged views on cooperation between Mongolia and the IMO.

Corporate Secretary Club in Mongolia launched to promote good governance
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, and the Corporate Governance Development Center (CGDC) have launched a corporate secretary club to promote best governance practices so that members can better advise their company board and management on governance matters.
