Mongolia and China Cooperation Council held its meeting
A meeting of Cooperation Council between Mongolia and China for mineral resources, energy and infrastructure was held successfully on April 26 in Beijing, China. The council meeting was attended by over 50 officials, including head of the Mongolian side of the council, Minister of Mongolia, Head of the Cabinet Secretariat J.Munkhbat, Minister of Road and Transportat Development D.Ganbat, Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry Ts.Dashdorj and Minister of Energy P.Gankhuu and other officials from the Mongolian side and Vice chairman of National Development and Reform Commission of the People’s Republic of China Ning Jizhe.

Former ambassadors awarded on the occasion of anniversary of diplomatic relations of Mongolia and Kazakhstan
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Republic of Kazakhstan, a photo exhibition was held in collaboration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Ulaanbaatar on April 27.

“New work-People-6” documentary photo exhibition opens
“New work-People-6” annual documentary photo exhibition organized by Ts.Batzorig Foundation is displaying selected 47 photos of 40 photographers, out of 700 photos applied by 80 photographers. The exhibition opened yesterday, April 26 at Gamma Gallery in Hunnu Mall and announced its best photographers. Winner of an award of public appreciation was selected during the opening ceremony with evaluation by the viewers and photojournalist of “Daily News” newspaper Ts.Myagmarsuren won the award with his work “Children of Roses”.

Defense Minister of Mongolia visiting Russia
On April 24-28, B.Bat-Erdene, Minister of Defense of Mongolia is paying a working visit to the Russian Federation at the invitation of his Russian counterpart, Sergey Shoygu, General of the Army of Russia. He is also the sixth Moscow Conference on International Security. On the first day of his visit, Defense Minister B.Bat-Erdene met with B.Delgermaa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to Russia and Mongolian students studying at military schools in Moscow.

National program on gender equality approved
During its regular meeting held yesterday on April 26, the Cabinet ordered Minister of Labor and Social Protection Ts.Nomtoibayar to approve a plan of implementation of a program to promote gender equality and to provide professional management and technical direction and to monitor the implementation in cooperation with private and public entities.

During the Parliament’s plenary session which convened this morning to discuss 7 issues, Member of Parliament D.Erdenebat suggested to postpone the discussion on the revised law on Offence; however, the Parliament voted to proceed with the discussion.

Internal migration registration to be halted starting today
Citizens’ internal migration registration will be halted nationwide starting today, April 27 in connection with the Presidential Election of this June. The halt of internal migration from one administrative unit to another, is observed in accordance with the unified law on Elections. The halt will be lifted on June 27, a day after the election voting date, restoring the migration registration in normal way.

Funding for revival of Ganga and Ugii Lakes to be resolved
Yesterday, the Government discussed a report on nature and environmental state of 2015-2016 at its regular meeting and assigned Minister of Environment and Tourism D.Oyunkhorol to introduce the report to related Parliamentary Standing Committees. The Cabinet resolved to introduce this kind of report to the Cabinet meeting every four years and reflect necessary funding for regular observations, researches and studies on long-term change of climate and environment state in the annual state budget. Relevant ministers were also charged to implement measures indicated in the report, regarding fulfillment of the goals of the Government action plan in 2016-2020, Green development policy and 2030 Agenda for Sustainable development.

Government to submit 2018 general guidelines to Parliament
Yesterday, the cabinet discussed general guidelines on economic and social development of Mongolia in 2018 and decided to submit the bill to the Parliament, reflecting the cabinet members’ proposals. The guideline puts 18 goals in macroeconomic policy, policy that support economic growth, and regional, rural development and environment policy, policy to support human and social development, governance, legal reform, foreign policy and defense sector policy.

Cabinet considers bilateral treaties with Hong Kong and Macau
During its regular meeting on April 26, Wednesday, the Cabinet addressed the issue of transfer of sentenced persons with Macau and Hong Kong, and resolved to discuss the issue with the corresponding Parliamentary Standing committee.

Government reserve wheat seeds to be sold
During its regular meeting on April 26, Wednesday, the Cabinet addressed crop production sector. This year, 1350 entities and land farmers from 13 aimags will cultivate 381.6 thousand ha area including 362.1 thousand ha area for wheat.

Second compact to address water issues in Ulaanbaatar
During its regular meeting on April 26, Wednesday, the Cabinet discussed and approved an agreement on the implementation of the nonrefundable aid for the formulation of Millennium Challenge Corporation compact proposal. Minister of Foreign Affairs Ts.Munkh-Orgil was authorized to sign the agreement.

The Bank of Mongolia has issued 1 week bills worth MNT 314 billion at a weighted interest rate of 14.0 percent per annum. Therefore by April 26, 1 week bills of MNT1287.1 billion have remained.

Central region forum of mining sector to be held in Orkhon aimag
A Central region forum of mining sector will be held on May 04 in Orkon aimag, on the occasion of 95th anniversary of Mining sector development in Mongolia. The forum under the theme “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” will be organized by the Ministry of Mining and Heavy Industry, Authority of Mineral Resources and Oil and Erdenet mining corporation. PM J.Erdenebat, Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry, MPs, authorities of Darkhan-Uul, Orkhon, Selenge, Khuvsgul, Bulgan, Tuv, Arkhangai and Uvurkhangai, scholars and researchers will attend the forum.

Fire extinguished at Bogd Mountain, no injuries
Today, on April 26, around 12:24 AM, the Emergency Management Department of Ulaanbaatar city received a call reporting a fire in the Nukht area in the Bogd Mountain. A fire brigade of over 60 emergency workers had been fighting and just moments ago, it was reported that the fire is fully extinguished. Currently, around 5 ha land is burnt and police department is now investigating the cause of the fire.
