NGS equipment donated to National Center of Communicable Diseases
On March 3, the World Health Organization and the Australian Government officially handed over the next generation sequencing (NGS) equipment, supplies and reagents to the National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD).  As a result of having this laboratory, it has become possible to detect new variants of SARS-CoV-2 in a timely manner.

“All Mongolian students have been evacuated from Kharkiv”
On February 28, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the staff of the Embassy of Mongolia in Poland has picked up 10 Mongolian citizens from the Poland-Ukraine border. Out of the 10 citizens, two were students in Kirovograd.

Agreement signed for launching engineering exploration works for natural gas pipeline project
On February 28, Deputy Prime Minister S.Amarsaikhan and Chairman of the Management Committee of Gazprom Company Alexey Miller signed an agreement on launching blueprint development and engineering exploration works for the construction project on the natural gas pipeline connecting Russia and China through the territory of Mongolia.

“Protection of Khuvsgul Lake will serve as a part of Mongolia’s contributions to reducing climate change”
According to a study conducted by the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, the glacial area around the Khuvsgul Lake has decreased by 3 times between 1981 and 2000. This is merely a single example of how various factors have been negatively affecting the Khuvsgul Lake ecosystem, highlighted Director of the Institute of Geography and Geoecology of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences A.Dashtseren during his presentation on the current state of the lake’s ecosystem at a panel discussion themed, ‘Protection of the Lake’s Ecosystem’.
