"Investor Nation 2017” investment forum took place in Ulaanbaatar for the first time on April 22-23. The forum, which was attended by members of the Parliament, namely D.Tsogtbaatar, L.Enkh-Amgalan and B.Javkhlan and leading investors, held discussions on investment, privatization, finance, technology and start-up businesses.

Winners of national kickboxing tournament awarded
The 18th national kickboxing tournament took place in Ulaanbaatar between April 21 and 23. After numerous fierce battles, Darkhan-Uul aimag’s A-1 club athletes, under the coaching of S.Amgalanjargal, won the cup and became national champions for the first time from Darkhan-Uul aimag. A total of 140 athletes from 23 fighting clubs competed in 18 different weight categories.

Storms predicted in coming days
The National Agency for Meteorology and Environment Monitoring warns that on April 24 and 27, precipitation will fall and wind storm with 14-16 m/sec speed will occur on some areas of western aimags and eastern part of eastern aimags.   However on April 26 western part and on April 27 most parts of the country will experience warm temperatures. On weekend it gets warmer with -3 -8 Celsius in the nighttime, and +7+12 Celsius in the daytime.

Established painter holds solo exhibition on 70th birthday
On April 13, a solo exhibition of renowned painter Sanchir Namkhaitseren, member of the Union of Mongolian Artists opened at the Art Gallery of Union of Mongolian Artists to commemorate the painter’s 70th birth anniversary.   Over 100 extraordinary artworks, including lifelike portraits, were displayed at the exhibition mirroring the artist’s imaginative and creative mind.  For instance, Sanchir's paintings named 'Soyombo' (National emblem), 'Hero', 'D.Namdag' and 'Face' which aren’t bound by any specific painting style such as the traditional Mongolian approach to painting were on public display.

Mongolian Culture Center officially opens in Indonesia
Aimed at broadening cooperation between Mongolia and the Republic of Indonesia in all spheres and promoting Mongolian tradition and culture abroad, a Mongolian Culture Center opened in Indonesia on April 23. The launching ceremony of the culture center unveiled an statue of great Chinggis Khaan.

JICA to support Mongolia’s effort for climate change mitigation
On April 18, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed 'Minutes of Meeting' with the Ministry of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia and the Environment and Climate Fund, mutually agreed upon the framework and contents of technical cooperation for the Project for capacity development to establish a national green house gas inventory cycle of continuous improvement.

UNICEF Report: Children are most vulnerable to mining related in-migration in Mongolia
The movement of people in connection with mining has significant impacts on children, reveals UNICEF report on the impact of in-migration on children in mining-affected communities in Mongolia.  Launched today, the report is the first of its kind that provides better understanding and evidence of how and why children are affected by in-migration.

A team of doctors from the First Central Hospital and National Center for Maternal and Child Health of Mongolia and ASAN Medical Center of the Republic of Korea successfully performed a liver transplant surgery on April 22, Saturday.

Amendments to Labor Law approved
The Parliament approved amendments to the Labor law at today’s plenary session. It is common that employers in manufacturing and service sectors hire persons without establishing labor contract and not giving salaries for a certain period of time. Therefore, lawmakers included new articles on probationary and training periods to regulate the issue in detail. The amendments indicated that an employer can make employee practice, following an experienced employee to improve his/her skill and experience and the probationary period should not exceed 3 months.

Madam Butterfly opera to be staged
Artists of the Mongolian State Opera and Dance Theatre will perform "Cio-Cio San” /Madama Butterfly/ a three-act opera play by Giacomo Puccini on April 22.  B.Enkhnaran, a soloist of the theatre will play the role of Cio Cio San, a beautiful and intelligent young girl.

Gobi Great Six campaign reports on half-year activity
“Gobi Great Six” half-year meeting took place in Ulaanbaatar on April 18 to discuss works carried-out, ongoing measures and actions to be performed within the framework of protection of the endangered Gobi Great six species, wild Bactrian Camel, Gobi Bear, Takhi or Wild Horse, Khulan or Wild Ass and Saiga Antelope. U.Bolortuya becomes best goalkeeper of East Asia Girls Tournament
A goalkeeper of Mongolian national girls’ soccer team U.Bolortuya has won the best goalkeeper prize of EAFF U-15 Girls tournament 2017. An international competition for girls, under-15 age category has been organized for the first time in the East Asian Football Federation on April 16-21 in Shanghai, China and it was also the first official competition for Mongolian girls’ team. Ten teams of East Asia participated in the tournament and the Mongolian team played three games, collecting four scores. Mongolian women referees E.Khuslenzaya and Ts.Oyundari worked in the tournament
