Mongolian wrestlers win five medals in New Delhi
2017 Senior Asian Free Style Wrestling Championship took place from May 10 to 14 in New Delhi, India.  A Mongolian team of freestyle wrestling athletes of Mongolia successfully attended the competition and won one gold, one silver and three bronze medals.

Prime Minister meets Polish and Japanese delegates in Beijing
On May 13, J.Erdenebat, Prime Minister of Mongolia met with Beata Szydlo, Prime Minister of Poland, who is attending the Belt and Road Summit in Beijing, China. After expressing her gratitude to Mongolia for supporting Poland in an election of non-permanent members of the UN Security Council. Ms. Beata Szydlo requested the Prime Minister to support bilateral cooperation by exchanging students, implementing a Polish language training program in Mongolia's higher educational institutes and universities and by collaborating in mining investment and paleontology.

Prime Minister holds first meeting with UN Chief
Prime Minister J.Erdenebat met with António Guterres, United Nations Secretary-General during his visit to China and participation in the Belt and Road Summit in Beijing.  At the meeting, Mr. António Guterres “As a person who is interested in history, I would like to remark that the ancestors of Mongolians have created the early history of and inception related to the "Belt and Road" initiative. "The United Nations will provide firm support to Mongolia, especially in the elimination of consequences of natural disasters and disaster risk reduction”.

Mongolian and Hungarian PMs discuss increasing trade turnover, forwarding joint projects
On the sidelines of his participation in the Belt and Road Summit, head of Mongolian Government J.Erdenebat is holding bilateral meetings with leaders of other countries. Today,  May 15, the Premier met with his Hungarian counterpart Victor Orban and discussed about feasibilities to enrich the bilateral cooperation with more economic contents, produce value-added products with mineral and agricultural resources, and to increase the number of Mongolian students to be granted the Hungarian government scholarships.

PM J.Erdenebat meets Philippine President and Cambodian PM during his visit to China
J.Erdenebat, Prime Minister of Mongolia met with Rodrigo Duterte, President of the Philippines to discuss on development of bilateral relations and cooperation between Mongolia and the Philippines. After mentioning his fond of reading histories of Chinggis Khaan and Kublai Khaan, President Rodrigo Duterte expressed his willingness to help Mongolia to maintain a close partnership with ASEAN.  Highlighting the possibilities of Mongolia and the Philippines to cooperate in the agricultural sector, Prime Minister J.Erdenebat noted that it is important to establish bilateral ties to connect Mongolian and Philippine small and medium sized enterprises.

Oyu Tolgoi signs power agreement with National Power Transmission Grid of Mongolia
On May 12, Oyu Tolgoi LLC announced the signing of a new power purchase agreement (PPA) with the National Power Transmission Grid (NPTG) of Mongolia.   Armando Torres, Chief Executive Officer of Oyu Tolgoi, said, “This is an important milestone for Oyu Tolgoi, and underscores the strong support and collaboration between the Government of Mongolia and Oyu Tolgoi – securing our future, and our long term contribution to Mongolia.”

PM J.Erdenebat meets State Counsellor of Myanmar in Beijing
On the sidelines of his participation in the Belt and Road Summit in Bejing, Prime Minister J.Erdenebat met with Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counsellor of Myanmar. Conveying the warm greetings from Ts.Elbegdorj, President of Mongolia to the State Counsellor of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of increasing a number of tourists and of reciprocal travels between the citizens in order to develop bilateral ties and economic cooperation of Mongolia and Myanmar.

Mongolian peacekeepers awarded UN medal in South Sudan
More than 850 Mongolian peacekeepers have been awarded the United Nations Medal for their commitment and service to the UN and the people of South Sudan during a ceremony in Bentiu. In awarding the medals, the Head of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), David Shearer, praised the Mongolian troops for their “robust, calm and appropriate” approach to peacekeeping. He said the courage and determination they had shown set a high standard for all peacekeeping forces to emulate.

Premiers J.Erdenebat and Li Keqiang hold official talks
Today, May 12, Prime Minister of Mongolia J.Erdenebat and Premier of the State Council of People’s Republic of China Li Keqiang held official talks. The parties mainly exchanged views on the intensification of trade and economic cooperation, environmental protection and climate change impacts.  PM J.Erdenebat underlined that increasing exports of mining products, including iron ore and coal and agricultural and animal origin products to China is significant to economic revival of Mongolia.

Emerging young filmmaker recognized
Director Uisenma Borchu is a young and free-spirited woman who has got dozens of ideas waiting to be interpreted and shared to people. She is a modest thinker. “I was always curious about everything and watched those who are in a weird situation. I had never imagined that I would be a director even though I loved watching movies. But I felt the need to express my thoughts and opinions. So I used to write them on a paper trying to compose a poem or story. That was me seeking ways to express what’s on my mind. And when I was 22, I realized that film could convey my messages perfectly. I had a big opportunity to study at the University of Television and Film Munich”, she says about how she became director.

Manufacturers to be in charge of withdrawal of used packages
Over the past years, the amount of solid waste in the country has increased by 500 thousand tons a year due to population growth, urbanization and industrialization. For example, 820 thousand tons of solid waste were produced in 2009, while it tripled by 2014 reaching 2.4 million tons a year.   According to a JICA survey, one citizen of the city produces 0,535-0.900 kg waste a day. 75 per cent of total waste is collected by the capital city waste maintenance company and 15 per cent is transported by individuals and organizations with their trucks and 5-10 per cent of waste is left without being transported.
