B.Altangerel brings Mongolia’s first gold medal from World Powerlifting Championships

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mongolian powerlifter B.Altangerel (120- kg) won a gold medal in the World Championships of Powerlifting by bench-pressing 352.5 kilograms. The championships took place in Lithuania between May 22 and 27, challenging participants in teenage, junior, senior and master’s categories.
Out of eight athletes representing Mongolia, three won medals.
P.Boldbaatar (master’s 120+ kg) grabbed silver medal, lifting 305 kg. This was the first-ever medal of Mongolia to win at the World Powerlifting Championships. The success was carried on by B.Tserenchimed and D.Tumenjargal, who also won silver medals in their respective weights.
