The Western Pacific Regional Office of the World Health Organization (WHO) organized a workshop under the theme, ‘Strengthening governance for health equity to advance the sustainable development goals’, in Manila, Philippines on March 25-27. Organized by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, the expo, ‘Patriotic purchase - Domestic production - 2019’, opened at the Misheel Expo center on April 2. The cabinet announced the year of 2019 as ‘The year to promote patriotic purchase’, coming to the decision to approve a list of 155 domestically produced goods that meet the quality standards and add them as basic terms of tenders.

Protest demanding decrease of loan interest takes place
A protest demanding to decrease loan interest rates took place on April 1. With the signs, ‘Officials that took SME loans pay annual interest rate of 3 percent, real business owners pay 30 percent’, ‘Make mortgage interest rate 3 percent’ and ‘Lower the interest rate of salary and pension loans to 9 percent’, the protesters went around the State House and the Sukhbaatar Square with their cars.

Package of tax bills to be passed during Irregular Session of the Parliament
The package of revised tax bills is the main agenda to be considered during the Irregular Session of the Parliament, opened on March 18. The package involves revised bills on General Taxation, Personnel Income Tax and Corporate Income Tax. On May 29, 2018, the Government submitted to the Parliament these bills which were formulated with a purpose to resolve tax disputes arising between taxpayer and taxation administration, introduce international standards and innovative taxation principles into Mongolia in harmony with the country’s conditions, promote investors and broaden the taxation base.

UN flood resilience project to be implemented in Bayanzurkh district
