EU Ambassador Traian Laurentiu Hristea works in Darkhan-Uul aimag
SocietyDarkhan-Uul /MONTSAME/ A working group led by the Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Mongolia Traian Laurentiu Hristea worked in Darkhan-Uul aimag on October 4 to get acquainted with the implementation of the project ‘Development of Value-Added Livestock Products and Vegetable Production Value Chain with the Involvement of the Private Sector’.
The working group consisted of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UNFAO) Representative Vinod Kumar Ahuja and relevant officials of the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry (MoFALI) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In 2017, the administration of Darkhan-Uul aimag signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on the MoFALI and UNFAO joint project ‘Development of Value-Added Livestock Products and Vegetable Production Value Chain with the Involvement of the Private Sector’.
The project creates employment in meat, dairy, textile (cashmere, camel, yak wool and other wool), leather and vegetable production value chains.
The working group got acquainted with operations of relevant companies, heard the challenges the animal product exporters face and held discussion on opportunities to increase exports. It was decided to donate over MNT 160 million equipment to the business entities of the aimag.
