Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ President Kh.Battulga visited some hospitals on December 24, paying attention to increasing cases of flu and its prevention measures.
The President met parents of children being treated for flu and doctors working on Sunday during his visits to the National Maternal and Child Health Center, Hospital of Bayanzurkh district and Children’s Hospitals of Bayangol and Sukhbaatar districts.
The doctors and parents spoke of their problems including the inadequacy of beds and equipment, work overload and lack of pediatricians. At the capital city level, there is a capacity of 870 beds for sick children in hospitals, and 200 folding beds are added when the hospitals run out of bed. However, the hospitals are required to be ready to receive twice as many children during winter when the number of flu patients sharply increases.
President Kh.Battulga inquired if it is possible for the Central Military Hospital and Hospital for State Special Servants to receive children with flu in winter.
It was reported to the President that the Central Military Hospital has about 70 beds available, and the Hospital for State Special Servants will start operation on January 1, 2018 with 240 available beds.
