Composer aims to raise fund for building of Morin Khuur museum

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Founder of Jonon Khar Museum, the first ever Morin Khuur museum, Morin Khuur maker, composer B.Sukhbaatar held a concert named ‘Melody of Heavens’ on April 24, Monday at the Wrestling Palace with a purpose of raising fund for the construction of a museum building.
Currently, Morin Khuur collection of the Jonon Khar Museum is kept at ‘Morin Khuur’ center, and the concert was thus held to raise fund to build a building for the museum. The museum has over 200 pieces dating back to the 1800s and Manchu era.
The ‘Melody of Heavens’ concert featured singers such as State Honored Artists G.Batbayar, L.Boldbaatar and J.Uranchimeg, State Foremost Artist D.Narankhuu, B.Altantogtokh and B.Selgertur and folk groups ‘Dumun’ and ‘Zambativ’ and dance group ‘Khatantuul’.
As a bonus feature, the concert-goers were able to see the rarest pieces of the Jonon Khar museum including an iron-plate Borjigin Morin Khuur from the 1800s and Ikel Khuur of the western Mongolians at the concert venue.
