Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The leader of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj Tuesday received Mr Peter Maurer, the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), in the State House.

Mr Elbegdorj said he appreciates the ICRC’s delivering humanitarian assistance and aid to people in countries affected by wars and conflicts.

Mr Maurer said the ICRC is an independent and neutral organization that protects people affected by fire conflicts or other kinds of violence and gives aid to them, and that the organization is taking measures for rendering aid to people in emergency conditions, for propagandizing international humanitarian law, reflecting significance of humanitarian actions in national laws.

The President said Mongolia maintains a neutrality policy in Northeast Asian region and is taking part in peacekeeping operations in South Sudan and Afghanistan to give support to people of these countries.

As a country with the neutrality policy, Mongolia keeps friendly ties with Russia, China, South Korea, North Korea and Japan. Mongolia is also sharing its experience with those countries recently transmitted into democracy such as Myanmar, Mr Elbegdorj said.

He also emphasized that the “Khaan Quest” international exercises are a part of the actions aimed at supporting international humanitarian actions and contributing to the realization of legal documents on humanity. He noted that the Red Cross Society of Mongolia closely cooperates with the ICRC.
