Ulaanbaatar, January 19, 2026 /MONTSAME/. The heating boiler of School No. 117 in Chingeltei district has been converted to a gas-fuel system and was commissioned on January 19, 2026.
The Secretariat of the National Committee for Reducing Air Pollution is working in cooperation with major taxpaying enterprises to convert water-heating boilers with a capacity of over 100 kW operating in Ulaanbaatar to gas-fuel systems.
Head of the Secretariat Davaasuren S. noted that “upgrading and converting the heating boiler of School No. 17 to gas fuel is not only an issue for Chingeltei district, but an important measure that will contribute to reducing air and environmental pollution in Ulaanbaatar as a whole.”
The modernization of the school’s heating boiler and its transition to gas-fuel technology were financed by Boroo Gold LLC through a one-percent tax incentive, as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility efforts. The project was implemented by Gazcom LLC, which installed a vertically mounted reserve tank with a capacity of 1.8 tonnes, designed to withstand Mongolia’s harsh climate.
School No. 17 previously burned 580 tonnes of raw coal annually. With the conversion of its heating boiler to a liquefied gas system, the annual use of 580 tonnes of raw coal has been eliminated, preventing the release of 2,320 tonnes of harmful substances into the air and thereby reducing air and environmental pollution.
