Remote Areas in Gobi Region to Be Connected to Fiber Optic Network

Ulaanbaatar, May 8, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation, and Communications of Mongolia intends to connect 13 remote areas in the Gobi region with the fiber optic network in 2025.
Although all bags in Gobisumber and Umnugobi aimags have been
connected to the network, 7 out of 54 bags in 12 soums of Dornogobi aimag, and
35 out of 66 bags in 15 soums of Dundgobi aimag have not yet connected to the
network.
Nationwide, a total of 55 bags are planned to be connected to
the network in 2025 to provide accessible telecommunications services to
remote regions. Mongolia, which is sparsely populated country on a vast
territory with 21 aimags and 335 soums has connected all its soums to the fiber
optic network.
