President of Mongolia Receives UN Deputy Secretary-General

Ulaanbaatar, August 22, 2024 /MONTSAME/. On August 22, 2024, President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa received Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Amina J. Mohammed, who is on a visit to Mongolia to participate in the World Women’s Forum in Ulaanbaatar. 


The two sides concurred that the World Women’s Forum in Ulaanbaatar manifests the efforts and aspirations of the international community towards promoting gender equality, women's rights, and achieving sustainable development.


At the meeting, President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa and UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed discussed Mongolia-United Nations relations and cooperation. The two sides exchanged views on consolidating the achievements of the past 60 years of relations and cooperation, as well as ways to enrich them with new content.


President Khurelsukh noted that Mongolia prioritizes its relations and cooperation with the United Nations and has been striving to contribute to efforts to address global challenges within the framework of the UN. The President also affirmed the country's commitment to closely cooperating with the UN in increasing the efficiency of Mongolia’s initiatives.


Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations A. Mohammed expressed her high appreciation for Mongolia's contributions to resolving regional and international challenges, UN development, and peacekeeping activities. The Deputy Secretary General underscored the commitment to expanding cooperation between Mongolia and the United Nations.


Amina J. Mohammed is the second woman in the history of the United Nations to hold the position of UN Deputy Secretary-General.
