Ulaanbaatar, January 19, 2024 /MONTSAME/ Mongolian Agricultural Commodity Exchange jointly with the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry officially started the centralized trading of livestock and meat on January 17, 2024.

By Government Resolution No. 223, it was decided to sell livestock and products of animal origin through the Mongolian Agricultural Commodity Exchange. Herders from Arkhangai, Uvurkhangai, and Tuv aimags traded 350 head of sheep and 52 tons of sheep and goat meat through the Mongolian Agricultural Commodity Exchange.

Meat trading through commodity exchange is considered to create favorable conditions and opportunities, including:

-Direct delivery of meat from herders to consumers;

-Preventing the risk of spoilage of stocked meat due to storage conditions;

-Selling livestock and meat locally without paying any transport costs;

-Factories and other buyers can make bulk purchases from one place, receive soft loans, and have financial sources, etc.

The Mongolian Agricultural Commodity Exchange is developing a trading system that is open and easy for buyers and sellers to order from anywhere. It provides the opportunity to regularly organize order-based trading and auctions.
