WHO expresses readiness to ensure implementation of Presidential order

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. On April 5, T. Munkhsaikhan, Health,
Sports and Social Policy Advisor to the President of Mongolia, received Sergey
Diorditsa, WHO Representative in Mongolia.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on
cooperation in ensuring the implementation of the Presidential order on providing
instructions to Government to reduce the consumption of alcohol and alcoholic
beverages.

T.Munkhsaikhan introduced that certain policy measures would be taken to reduce
the consumption of drinks with higher alcohol content based on international
experience and research.
WHO Representative Sergey Diorditsa said that other
countries in the world implement long-term policies towards the reduction of
improper use of alcohol and alcoholic beverages, and commended that Mongolia is
also focusing on this issue, with the President issuing an order.
Mr. Sergey Diorditsa also expressed his readiness to
cooperate in reducing high alcohol consumption and its negative consequences,
which is one of the main problems affecting the people’s health, and to provide
professional and methodological advice and support.
