Regional forum on green financing to be held on March 29, 30

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. At the initiative of the President of Mongolia, the Green Financing Regional Forum will take place at the State House on March 29 and 30.

At the forum to be organized ahead of the Mongolia Economic Forum 2022, the national roadmap for sustainable financing will be approved alongside holding discussions on matters concerning the environment and green financing. Certificates are also planned to be presented to financial institutions and several large domestic companies that have made the decision to support the ‘One Billion Trees’ national movement.

Furthermore, a project proposal will be developed on slowing down climate change and fighting against desertification and dust storms in the region. The suggestions put forth during the forum are to be presented during the plenary session of the Mongolian Economic Forum.


At the forum, President of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh will give remarks, and Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene will present a keynote speech on international trends for green financing and Mongolia’s role and participation.

Alongside members of the State Great Khural and the Cabinet as well as other corresponding officials, representatives of some Embassies and Diplomatic Representatives’ Offices in Mongolia, international organizations, and investors will be attending the forum.

The Office of the President of Mongolia, Ministry of Environment and Tourism, and the Mongolian Sustainable Finance Association are organizing the forum, with support from the Ministry of Finance, Bank of Mongolia, Financial Regulatory Commission, Mongolian Bankers Association, International Finance Corporation, United Nations Development Programme, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and MONTSAME Agency.

Ahead of the Mongolian Economic Forum 2022, discussions are taking place on six main topics for the ‘New Revival Policy’ being implemented by the Government of Mongolia. More specifically, while discussions took place on ‘Revival of Energy’ and ‘Revival of Government Productivity’ on March 21 and 22, corresponding discussions are planned to be organized on ‘Revival of Industrialization’, ‘Revival of Urban and Rural Areas’, and ‘Revival of Border Checkpoints’ between March 24 and 28.
