Agriculture Ministry holds meeting with Canada's SEMEX company

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Following the third meeting of Mongolia-Canada joint agriculture committee, the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry of Mongolia and Canada’s SEMEX company held their first virtual meeting.
Established at the initiative of Canadian farmers, SEMEX is a leading company that exports its products to over 80 countries and has seed production facilities in Europe and America. During the meeting, SEMEX Vice President M.McCready outlined the company’s Progenesis, Boviteq, and Immunity+ technologies for improving the quality and breed of meat and dairy livestock and experience in making native livestock breeds highly productive using breeding and selection technologies. The Livestock Farming Policy Implementation Coordination Department of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry presented the government’s policies on livestock farming, legal framework for protecting livestock gene pool and health, and the intensive farming development policy.
There is a need to enhance the legal frameworks for cooperation in livestock genetics. The sides agreed to talk about at length importing SEMEX genetics products, introducing them in rural areas, and the method for using them.
