Member of the State Great Khural receives S.Korean Ambassador

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. On September 22, B.Battumur, Member of the State Great Khural (Parliament) and Chair of the Standing Committee on Security and Foreign Policy, received Lee Yeo Hong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Mongolia.
Praising the
Ambassador’s valuable contribution in
upgrading the bilateral friendly relations, MP B.Battumur extended congratulations
on the promotion of Korea's status from a developing economy to a developed under
the decision of the 68th Trade and Development Board meeting held by the United
Nations Conference.
“The high-level
reciprocal visits and talks have played an important role in expanding and
developing the bilateral relations. During the virtual summit held between
President of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh and President of the Republic of Korea Moon
Jae-in on September 10, the sides agreed to elevate bilateral ‘comprehensive
partnership’ to ‘strategic
partnership’ level. This has been an event of great importance in the history of
relations between two countries,” highlighted B.Battumur.
He added, “To further expand cooperation between
the two countries in all possible fields, it is necessary to intensify
relations between the parliaments, parliamentary friendship groups and
departments.” Chair of the Standing Committee
expressed his confidence in further intensifying the trade and economic
cooperation as soon as the pandemic situation subsides.
In turn, Lee Yeo-hong
said that the Presidents of the two countries agreed to upgrade bilateral
relations to ‘strategic partnership’
in five key areas and issued a joint declaration. To realize the joint
declaration, it is important to strengthen relations and cooperation with Mongolia,
a key partner in the New Northern Policy, and coordinate it with ‘Vision-2050,’
Mongolia's long-term development policy.
Lee Yeo-hong noted
that Mongolia has always supported the Republic of Korea in the international
and regional arenas,
expressing his confidence that Mongolia will support the ‘Northeast Asia Cooperation Mechanism for
Infectious Disease Control and Health Protection’, spearheaded by the President
of the Republic of Korea.
During the meeting, the sides discussed and exchanged views
on expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in all possible fields, including
trade, economy, investment and tourism, reports the Media and Public Relations Department of the
State Great Khural.
