Standing Committee members visit Agriculture Ministry

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On March 16, members of the Parliamentary
Standing Committee on Environment, Food and Agriculture, T.Aubakir,
J.Bat-Erdene, T.Enkhtuvshin, J.Batjargal, N.Naranbaatar, and G.Gambold worked
at the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry. During the visit, Minister
of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry Z.Mendsaikhan informed the standing committee members
of the sector’s development policy, medium-term goals and objectives, and pressing
issues and ways to tackle them.
The Minister spoke at length about the policy actions to be
taken in the sector in the medium term or in the next three years and ongoing
projects and programs, emphasizing the primary goal of introducing digital
agriculture. Digitizing agriculture will bring more opportunities for improving the
competitiveness of agricultural products and expanding their market share, ensuring food security, and developing agriculture as an independent economic sector.
Underlining that the reform of agricultural stock exchange is
one of the main goals, the Minister explained digitizing agriculture and agricultural stock exchange will bring about numerous benefits to the stakeholders in
the sector.
The Minister also gave information on irrigated farming and
intensive farming development projects, and major projects on crop storage
system, Biocombinat renovation, greenhouse farming, Darkhan leather and hide
complex, and winter greenhouse farming.
