Blizzards expected despite slightly warmer temperatures

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Snowfall and blizzards are expected in eastern parts of western aimags, central aimags, and some parts of eastern aimags today on January 12, in the northern region on January 13, in most parts of western aimags, and some parts of central, Gobi, and eastern aimags on January 14, and in southern parts of Gobi aimags on January 15.

 

Wind speed will reach 18-20 m/sec in most parts of the country on January 13, and in the Gobi and plains on January 14. 

 

With warmer temperatures in the next few days, in the depression of Uvs lake and Darkhad, in the head of Zavkhan river, near Khurenbelchir, and in the basins of Ider river, the temperature will range from -33 to -38 degrees Celsius during the night, and -22 to -27 during the day.

 

In mountainous areas of Altai, Khangai, Khuvsgul, and Khentei, and in the basins of Eg, Uur, Orkhon, Selenge, Kharaa, Yuruu, Tuul, Terelj, and Kherlen rivers, the temperature will be -25 to -30 during the night, and -15 to -20 during the day.

 

In regions of the country with little snow, the night-time temperature will be -13 to -18 degrees Celsius, and daytime temperature will be -2 to -7 degrees Celsius.

 

In other areas, temperatures are expected to be -21 to -26 during the night, and -11 to -16 during the day. A slight temperature drop is expected in the northern region from January 14, and in most parts of the country from January 15.
