Representatives from EU Delegation to Mongolia visits local economic development project site in Zavkhan aimag

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. On September 17, representatives from
European Union Delegation to Mongolia paid visit to Zavkhan aimag and held
meeting to discuss the implementation, ongoing results as well as the key highlights
of the Local Economic Development project that is being implemented in
partnership with the Governor Office of Zavkhan aimag and World Vision
Mongolia.
The meeting was attended by D. Batsaikhan, Governor of
Zavkhan aimag, Ch. Khurelbaatar, Head of Provincial State Fund, Ts. Amgalan,
Provincial program manager of World Vision, Kh. Davaakhuu, Head of Zavkhan
branch of Mongolian Women’s Association and other members of project
consortium.
Mr. Pierre-Yves Lucas, Cooperation team leader of EU
Delegation to Mongolia, said: "Transfer of expertise and support to local
CSOs in Zavkhan aimag is ongoing. Even after a short period of implementation
of the project, impact is remarkable in business and jobs creation, led by women".
Following the meeting, the representatives from European
Union Delegation to Mongolia visited provincial Civil Society Hall and met
Producer groups in Uliastai city and had discussions about the achievements of
the project beneficiaries.
Project background: The European Union funded project ‘Enhancing
Civil Society Organizations’ Contribution to Sustainable Local Economic
Development and Growth of Zavkhan Province” is implemented by World Vision in
cooperation with Zavkhan aimag Governors’ Office since the beginning of 2018.
The project aims to strengthen the capacity of local civil society
organizations by improving their participation in local economic development
process and to support household income diversification through strategic
collaboration with Local Authorities and CSOs.
