Waste sorting to be encouraged through incentives

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On September 8, Head of
Waste Management Department at Ulaanbaatar Mayor's Office S.Arigun, Director
of the Health and Social Policy Institute of Mongolia A.Nyamdorj, and Head of Oyuny
Darklaa NGO G.Enkhbaatar organized a meeting on waste sorting and its benefits.
The meeting participants discussed why waste should be
sorted out and what changes can be made with waste sorting, how the sorted
waste can be recycled, as well as solutions and plans for the future.
The Waste Management Department at Ulaanbaatar Mayor's
Office has been organizing seminars for businesses and households, regularly
providing them with advice and recommendations, and calling for source
separation of waste.
It was also noted at the meeting that there are plans to collaborate with Mobicom and Unitel companies to start a Candy and Upoint point-based incentive program in two months from now. As part of the program, citizens who separate their waste will collect those bonus points for rewards.
