The second consultative meeting held between Mongolia and the EAEU

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The second consultative meeting on setting up a joint working group in charge of studying the possibilities to establish Free Trade Agreement between Mongolia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) took place virtually yesterday, July 2.


Representatives at the meeting were headed by G.Ulziisaikhan, Deputy Director of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and A.E.Kudasov, Director of Trade Policy Department of Eurasian Economic Commission.


At the meeting, the sides agreed on the principle to establish a joint working group in charge of studying the possibilities to establish Free Trade Agreement after the Eurasian Economic Union Member States, the Government of Mongolia and the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission make necessary decisions. Moreover, the sides agreed on the draft terms of reference for the joint research team, including composition of the team, research issues and development documents.


In addition, the sides concluded that holding bilateral consultations at a difficult time amid global spread of COVID-19 affirms the high level of mutual understanding between Mongolia and Eurasian Economic Commission. The sides also agreed that the pandemic situation should not hinder joint research and further activities to study the possibility of Free Trade Agreement, and reaffirmed their commitment to do everything possible to further advance bilateral cooperation.
