Hospital preparations for COVID-19 emergency response drill checked

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Starting today, drill and exercise for correlation and countermeasures during the COVID-19 pandemic will be taking place until May 8. In its framework, Minister of Health D.Sarangerel and Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar city S.Amarsaikhan became acquainted on May 5 with the preparations being done for the drill at a new maternity hospital in Yarmag soon to be put to operation.


Block B of the new maternity hospital has been fully furnished for operations during the pandemic. Divided into three levels of protection from the infection, it is equipped with necessary medical tools and equipment to provide healthcare assistance to patients. As per standard, emergency room, disinfection area, morgue, and on-call rooms for hospital staff have been provided.


Governor S.Amarsaikhan said, “Preparations have been completed for a 100-bed hospital to be put into operation if community spread of coronavirus arises in the country. However, the new maternity hospital of the capital city with 300 beds will operate as per its original use later on. In the framework of the drill and exercise, a 300-bed healthcare facility has also been set up at Buyant-Ukhaa Sports Complex. The exercise is being done to ensure preparedness of healthcare assistance and services in the case of community spread of COVID-19 in Mongolia.”


Afterwards, they became acquainted with the preparations being conducted for the health facility being set up at Buyant-Ukhaa Sports Complex. “After receiving the patients, they will be divided into separate groups of A, B, and C depending on their diagnosis and required treatment. Region A will receive patients in high risk, offering intensive treatment. Region B will receive children and pregnant mothers, while C will be in charge of adults and male patients,” explained the medical officials.
