Confirmed COVID-19 cases reach 40, with 12 recoveries

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. In Mongolia, the number of COVID-19 confirmed
cases has reached 40, reported D.Nyamkhuu, Director of the National Center for
Communicable Diseases, at today’s daily press briefing of the Ministry of
Health.
Two new cases of COVID-19 were detected in passengers of
recent charter flights from Seoul, South Korea on April 30 and Frankfurt,
Germany on May 2.
Moreover, two more patients have recovered and are now in isolation as a precautionary measure, making the total number of recoveries to 12.
As per the decision of the State Emergency Commission, three
charter flights were arranged to Seoul, South Korea on April 30 and May 1, and
to Frankfurt, Germany May 2.
The charter flight to Seoul, dated April 30, brought 278
transit Mongolians only, who transited from seven countries through Seoul. The
another flight chartered to Seoul on May 1 brought 266 Mongolians who were
staying in South Korea. The last or Frankfurt-Ulaanbaatar flight landed at the
Chinggis Khaan International Airport in Ulaanbaatar on May 3, bringing back 261
Mongolians, who gathered in Frankfurt from 13 countries. With all three charter
flights, 805 Mongolian nationals arrived in the home country.
The Mongolians who arrived in the home country on the
charter flights have been placed in 21-day isolation for medical supervision at
NCCD, Central Military Hospital, ‘Ontsgoi Jargalant’ and ‘Enkhsaran’
sanatoriums and ‘Tsentavr,’ ‘Iveelt’ and ‘Alfa’ hotels as well as others.
By the way, since the beginning of the spread of COVID-19 around the world or from January, the Government of Mongolia and State Emergency Commission have arranged ten charter flights so far, evacuating about 2350 citizens from abroad, alongside more than 2400 citizens through the border checkpoints and railway.
