Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The Academic Council of the Chinggis Khaan Museum, chaired by the President of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences (MAS) D.Regdel, held a meeting yesterday to discuss the progress of the Working Group.

During the meeting, the draft “Regulations of the Academic Council Procedure” was discussed and approved. Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh has issued an ordinance to set up an academic council responsible for providing professional advice for establishing the museum.

In addition, a working group consisting of representatives of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, the Chinggis Khaan Institute of Heritage and Culture, the Institute of History and Archeology of the MAS, the National Center for Cultural Heritage and the Mongolian National Museum presented their work progress. The Chinggis Khaan Museum is planned to have a total of 15 halls, and is currently working on determining the structure of the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th floors.

The Hall of Ancient Empires is planned to be on the 3rd and 4th floors of the museum which will be consisted of exhibits related to Xiongnu Empire, while on the 5th and 6th floors, there will be exhibits related to the history of the Great Mongol Empire.

Members of the Academic Council advised the Working Group to consider what makes the Chinggis Khaan Museum different from the National History Museum and to link the name Chinggis Khaan to all exhibits.

D.Regdel, the head of the working group, said “The meeting was about determining the main theme of the Chinggis Khaan Museum. Everyone commented. For example, member A.Tsanjid brought forward the idea to settle the theme on the whole Mongolian history. We will consolidate our comments and provide recommendations. PM Khurelsukh underlined that the museum should serve as a fine place for the Mongolian people to be proud of their statehood and history. Therefore, we should make the history of statehood and the contribution of Mongolians to the development of humankind the main theme of the Chinggis Khaan Museum. Another important suggestion from the council members was to pay special attention to the creation of an exhibition fund under the name of Chinggis Khaan. The museum building is not really spacious and has little space. Therefore, modern technology should be used. It's not a big deal to create virtual 3D and 5D screens that make you feel like you're in the moment, and to distribute in 5 languages. It may not be easy to do it for just by ourselves, so our working group should also consult on inviting foreign experts to cooperate in this field.”
