Cooperation agreement established with Japanese automotive certification bodies

Ulaanbaatar /MONSTAME/ As more and more motor vehicles with
damage history have been imported into Mongolia and going on sale after repair
in recent years, the Minister of Road and Transport Development gave an
order on December 17, 2019, to amend the Regulation on registration of motor
vehicles and license plate issuance.
Following the amendments, Mongolian National Road Transport
Center established a cooperation agreement with automotive appraisal institute and certification bodies of Japan.
Under the agreement effective from April 1, 2020, technical
inspection will be conducted on import cars from Japan and it will allow
citizens to see the details about the vehicle they fancy on a transparent
database using only the vehicle’s identification number.
There are also plans to take step by step actions to do the
same with other countries exporting motor vehicles to Mongolia.
