Ecological police unit to be set up

The Cabinet today made a decision to establish a Unit of Ecological Police in
the structure of police organization.
According to
the decision, a total of 170 positions of ecological policemen will be newly
formed. The unit will function to protect the environment, combat and prevent
of environment-related crime and offences and reduce ecological damages.
To do it, ecological
policemen will work at police units in 74 soums of 11 aimags including Arkhangai,
Bayankhongor, Bulgan, Darkhan-Uul, Dornod, Uvurkhangai, Umnugobi, Tuv and
Selenge that suffer ecological deterioration due to mining operations.
