State Secretary meets UNCTAD Division Director
EconomyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs D.Davaasuren met with James Zhan, Director of the Division on Investment and Enterprise of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) on November 14 and discussed relations and cooperation between Mongolia and the organization.
At the meeting, State Secretary D.Davaasuren noted that the
Government of Mongolia developed and approved model investment agreement following UNCTAD's recommendations and it is working to renew bilateral investment treaties that were
signed before 2010 and establish new investment treaties that are currently under discussion, in accordance with that model.
The Mongolian side then proposed collaborating in evaluating the Mongolia-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (2016), Mongolia’s first free trade agreement, strengthening the Investment-Research Center established under the Mongolia-Russia-China Economic Corridor program and attracting investment for 32 projects that the parties agreed to implement.
The sides also talked about UNCTAD's ‘Rapid eTrade Readiness
Assessment’ series and ‘Empowerment Program for National Trade Facilitation
Bodies’ and improving laws and regulations on free zones and attracting investment
in the zones.
