Minister D.Tsogtbaatar presents Mongolia’s initiatives on sustainable development

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. Minister of Foreign Affairs D.Tsogtbaatar attended the Forty-third Annual Meeting of Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the Group of 77 developing countries, in New York City on September 27.
At the meeting,
foreign ministers reviewed world economic, social and development issues within
the UN, in particular the contribution of Group of 77 to the implementation of 2030
Agenda for Sustainable Development and challenges to be on focus further.
Minister D.Tsogtbaatar
introduced Mongolia’s initiatives and measures in national, regional and
international levels within the sustainable development goals and emphasized an
importance of building capacity of citizens, increasing accessibility and
seeking innovative ways of financing.
The Minister
also noted the country’s contribution to South-South cooperation by means of
supporting and protecting interest of landlocked developing countries and reported
that the government supports activities of the International Think Thank for
LLDCs.
Mongolia has
been actively participating in the activities of the Group 77 since its joining
the group in 1989. In particular, Mongolia has a leading role in dialogues on
the protection of interest of LLDCs, literacy, improving livelihoods of rural
girls and women and roles of cooperatives in social development.
During the 43th
meeting, Azerbaijan became the 135th member. Moreover, the
ministerial declaration and joint declaration on 55th anniversary of
the establishment of the Group of 77 were approved.
