Field school for Mongolian studies kicks off

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The 1st annual Inter-disciplinary Mongolia Field School Program organized by the American Center for Mongolian Studies (ACMS) kicked off at the Ulaanbaatar city Public Library on July 30.


Over 60 professors and students from the U.S, Canada and Belgium have arrived in Mongolia to attend the program. With the courses focusing on archeology, migration and renewable energy, the participants will become acquainted with the ger districts of Ulaanbaatar in its framework. They will also be learning field research techniques in the aimags of Khuvsgul, Selenge and Darkhan-Uul until August 16.


ACMS is a non-profit, non-governmental organization with its aim as to develop academic exchanges between Mongolia and North America. Founded in 2002, the organization has provided over USD 2.4 million in support of Mongolian Studies programs, and has involved over 100 scholars and researchers of Mongolia and other countries in field research and academic exchange fellowships.
