Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On the occasion of the International Children’s Day, the biggest celebration event took place at the Sukhbaatar Square on June 1. Under the theme, ‘Mongolian children’, a concert was performed by about 1,500 children of the schools and kindergartens in the capital city.

The event was attended by Prime Minister, Head of the National Council for Children U.Khurelsukh. He said, “Today is the holiday that is anticipated by all children. When I was little, I used to spend this day, which is my favorite holiday, at the park with my mother. As my father was a busy driver, it was rare for us to spend time together. Mothers are the ones that are the closest to their children. It was only when I became older that I understood that the day is called Mothers and Children’s Day for that reason.” He then continued on to say, “Recently, there has been many cases for child abuse and violation of their rights. The people that should care the most about their children are parents, especially the men. That’s why I am genuinely grateful for the fathers that are here today. Our future depends on how we protect our children. Fathers must protect their wives and children, and bring up their children by spending time together and caring for them.”

In accordance with the Presidential Decree No. 60, the year of 2019-2020 has been announced as the Year for Child Development and Protection, with the aims for the Government as to provide child protection and implement relevant laws.
