Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry Ch.Ulaan received Non-resident Ambassador of Uruguay to Mongolia Fernando Lugris on May 2. At the start of the meeting, the Minister highlighted the full potential of partnership in the agriculture sector as the two countries have many geographical similarities despite the distance.

During the meeting, the sides discussed partnership in the sector, and came to the decision to pay more attention to the implementation of the memorandum of understanding established in 2014 and jointly implementing effective projects.

Food technologists are to be prepared in Uruguay by learning from their experience in meat and milk processing alongside supporting the partnership of researchers in the two countries.

As most of Uruguay’s food production is being exported to China, Minister Ch.Ulaan also mentioned the opportunity for partnership in enhancing the processing of cashmere and other livestock commodities.

The sides also came to the decision to establish a joint factory for processing meat, milk and milk products with the support of international development organizations as well as doing a research on the manufacturing of products for export to neighboring countries.
