Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. A water sports centre with two swimming pools of 25 metres and 50 metres is to be built in Ulaanbaatar to meet international standards to hold international competitions. Governor of the Capital City S.Amarsaikhan, Director of the Organising Committee of the Children of Asia International Sports Games 2020 D.Jargalsaikhan and President of the Mongolian Amateur Swimming Federation P.Batsaikhan signed a tripartite memorandum of cooperation on April 5.

The memorandum states that in preparation for the 7th Children of Asia International Sports Games in 2020 and the 2023 East Asian Youth Games, the state and private-owned organizations will partner in the construction as well as the usage of the swimming pool. Governor S.Amarsaikhan said, “The construction of an important facility, which will help develop children and youth in their growth as well as their skills and talents, is about to begin. With the opening of the sports centre which meets international standards, it will promote productive ways to use free time and good health in youth. The construction work will start on April 14, and by next year’s June, all facilities of the sports centre will be opened.”

President of the Mongolian Amateur Swimming Federation P.Batsaikhan said, “With each year, our water sports athletes’ achievements have become higher and higher as they compete in various international competitions. Although there have been many new pools built in Ulaanbaatar, there has not yet any swimming pool, where international competitions could be organized. We are grateful to the city government in cooperating in the construction.”
