Speaker meets Prime Minister of ROK
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On March 26, Speaker of the Parliament G.Zandanshatar received Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon. Mr. Lee Nak-yeon said, “It is our duty to strengthen and develop friendly relations of people and two countries that have long historic relations and similarities in tradition and culture. Mongolia and the ROK have been developing Comprehensive Partnership relations. It is vital to elevate the bilateral relations to a strategic partnership.”
Mr. Lee Nak-yeon also highlighted the
importance of intergovernmental cooperation “Strengthening ties between
parliaments of the two countries, which are representations of the people, is
our mission.”

G.Zandanshatar said he would work for activating cooperation between the
parliaments to deepen political trust and strengthen the legal framework. “We
are aspiring to fully use cooperation potential, increase number of projects
and programs to be implemented by the ROK in Mongolia and introduce its new
technologies and attach investment in Mongolia. The Mongolian Parliament will
pay special attention on creating favorable legal environment for it.”
Moreover, the Speaker said that the Mongolian parliament
is focusing attention on learning practice from the National Assembly of the
ROK, in particular ‘A Citizen-Ruler’ program. “We aim to make decisions
with citizens’ involvement by conducting deliberative poll.” The sides
also shared views on broadening collaboration between inter-parliamentary
groups.
Mentioning that Mongolia has a constant position that the issue on
denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula has to be resolved through dialogue,
the Speaker said he hopes that the South Korean side will continuously back
Ulaanbaatar Dialogue Initiative.
