International scholars discussing East Asia’s new stage

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The 10th International Conference on East Asian Studies is being organized in Ulaanbaatar on August 27-29, discussing the barriers to economy, politics, society and culture of East Asia in the 21st century. 

The National University of Mongolia (NUM) is organizing the conference themed ‘A New Stage of East Asia in the 21st century’ under the support of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports.

At the opening ceremony, Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports Ts.Tsogzolmaa emphasized the conference indicates the Mongolian Government’s focus on promoting regional studies in social and humanitarian fields. 

Participants of the conference emphasized that the event is featured as being organized at this time that the political atmosphere in Korean Peninsula is improving, a new economic situation is arising in the world, political and economic conditions of Mongolia’s neighbouring countries are strengthening and that China is striving to carry out the Belt and Road initiative.

Over 40 prominent scholars from Japan, China, Russia, South Korea, France, Canada, Finland, Sweden, New Zealand, Italy and so forth more than 30 domestic scholars gathered here to discuss 57 presentations across five sessions.

S.Battulga, Director of the School of International Relations and Public Administration of the NUM, said “The International Conference on East Asian Studies has been successfully organized since 2000 in China, Thailand, Vietnam and Russia and became a joint platform of world-class professional scholars in East Asian studies. Scholars discuss result of their studies on East Asia’s economy, politics, society and culture.”
