Deputy Director of GASI receives delegates of US Department of Energy

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Deputy Director of General Agency for Specialized Investigation (GASI) D.Enkhsaikhan met with delegates of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory of the United States Department of Energy. The instructors will train state inspectors for radiation control and national instructors on July 16-21, 2018 in Ulaanbaatar.

During the meeting, Mr D.Enkhsaikhan expressed gratitude for accepting the proposal to install radiation detection equipment at all permanent and temporary border checkpoints in Mongolia and to train inspectors and specialists, highlighting the importance of the US Department of Energy’s project on Detection and Interdiction of Illegal Movement of Nuclear Materials for ensuring Mongolia's security and fulfilling Mongolia's duty before the international community.

Under the project, the US Department of Energy established an agreement with the GASI on supplying equipment worth MNT 5 billion 276 million that will be installed at the new airport in Khushigt Valley. The installation work will be completed and the equipment will be operational in December, 2018.
