Australia to host next Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Deputy Prime Minister U.Enkhtuvshin today met with Member of Australian Senate, Minister for International Development and the Pacific Concetta Fierravantti-Wells.  
 
Relations and cooperation with Australia takes up significant position in Mongolia’s foreign policy in Asia Pacific region, the Deputy Minister remarked and expressed his appreciation for rendering official development assistance in Mongolia’s human resource, environment and health areas. Moreover, Australian investors play important role in mining sector which is one of the pillars of Mongolia’s economy.  
 
He congratulated Australia which was selected to host the Third Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction and wished success.
 
“Mongolia and Australia have similarities as having large territory and the countries rely on mining and agriculture. Therefore, Mongolia has opportunity to introduce Australian best practices and to learn from our country to avoid failures and mistakes”, Ms. Concetta Fierravantti-Wells said.
 


The same day, Deputy Minister received Myat Aye, Minister for Social Welfare and Relief of Myanmar.  
 
Developing bilateral and multilateral cooperation with countries in Asia Pacific region is primary objective of our foreign policy and Mongolia has interest to develop ties and cooperation with Myanmar, said the Deputy PM. He also expressed Mongolia’s willingness to collaborate in reducing disaster risk, commencing cultural and humanitarian exchange as well as developing people to people relations and highlighted that the two countries should actively cooperate in frame of the United Nations, its system organizations and other international organizations.
