Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On September 20, the Cabinet made amendments to the appendix of governmental resolution on compensation and benefits for medical healthcare workers.

Accordingly, tuberculosis doctors will receive bonus compensations equaling to 30 per cent of their base salary. The related Ministers were ordered to include the incentives to the budget from September 1st, 2017.

A total of 105 doctors treat TB in Mongolia, which is 61 lower than appropriate number of vacancies. TB doctors work in dangerous condition with a risk of infecting the virus, and studies have proven that they have higher illness and death rate than other medical doctors.

Compared to similarly skilled TB doctors in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, Mongolian doctors are paid 190 per cent less and multi-drug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) doctors are paid 220 percent less.
