President discusses right to information with journalists

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ President's Office in cooperation with Provincial Press Association organized a meeting under the theme ‘Citizens’ Right to Information’ on April 14, Friday, and President Ts.Elbegdorj attended the meeting. During the meeting with journalists and correspondents working in 21 provinces of Mongolia, the President touched upon his powers granted by the Constitution of Mongolia.
 
“There are two honorable roles as president which are being a head of state of Mongolia and fully representing Mongolia anywhere else, and this is such a remarkable fortune as well as a high responsibility”, said the President.
 
He also mentioned three powers he didn’t exercise during the last 8 years of his presidency which are declaring a state of emergency state, war and granting right for asylum.
 
Then, the  President discussed certain areas of focus he considered priorities during his tenure such as foreign policy, international relations, cultural preservation and judicial reform.

With the rise of online journalism and social networking sites, everyone has become a journalist on the internet, the President views. “Mongolia is a country of 3 million journalists, and it’s hard to gain public support in this situation. But I think this state should be maintained”, President Ts.Elbegdorj said.
After his speech, the President took questions from the journalists.
