Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ By the initiative of WWF Mongolia Programme Office, Mongolia joined the movement in 2010 and organized the Earth Hour in Ulaanbaatar city, Khovd, Gobi-Altai, Uvs and Khentii aimags. This year, the annual Earth Hour is scheduled at 8:30 PM on March 25.

The famously started event was first organized in Sydney, Australia with some 2.2 million households and organizations as followers and has grown into a worldwide movement of 7 thousands cities and towns around the world.

World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) annually organizes the event, encouraging individuals, communities, households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour, from 8:30 to 9:30 pm towards the end of March, as a symbol for their commitment to the planet.

On the occasion, the Ministry of Environment and Green Development of Mongolia is organizing the “Candle Night” campaign on March 25 from 08.30PM to 09.30PM at the Central Square.
