Birth rate of domestic animals 3.6 percent

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry reports that 819,900 or 3.6 percent of total dams on national level have delivered offspring.

Compared to that for the last week, the number of deliveries has increased by 562,000, and the 99 percent of the delivered offspring are healthy.

On the national level, 26,2 million dams were counted earlier this year including 122,600 female camels, 1,1 million mares, 2,7 million cows, 12,4 million ewes and 10,9 million nannies.

Presently, about 50 percent of the total territory is covered in snow with the snow depth being 10-50 cm in some soums. 54 soums of 13 aimags are in a dzud (heavy snowfall) condition and some 74 soums of 16 aimags are in a milder situation, officials said.

Weather forecast also indicates that regions deeply covered in snow are likely to see more snowfall and frequent snow and dust storm.
