Judokas grab silver medals in Paris Grand Slam

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Judokas of our national team have successfully competed in the 2016 Paris Grand Slam which ran this February 6-7 in France.

With 610 judokas from 96 countries, the tournament has given 500 points for Olympic qualification to a gold medal winner in each weight category. Mongolia was represented by 20 judokas coached by O.Baljinnyam, Kh.Erdenet-Od and G.Dashdavaa.

On the first day of the events, a 2013 World champion M.Urantsetseg won a silver medal in the women’s 48kg contest. At the finals, she was defeated by G.Otgontsetseg, a former judoka of the Mongolian national team and now a representative of Kazakhstan.

Others--D.Tomorkhuleg and D.Sumiya--captured silver medals in the men’s -66kg and in women’s 57kg contests, respectively. 300 qualification points were awarded the each runner-up.

On the second day, no Mongolian won a medal. A bronze medalist of the World Championship Ts.Monkhzaya took 5th place in the women’s -63kg, P.Lhamdegd IMS--7th place in the women’s -75kg.

By the team result, Mongolia has taken 7th place after Japan, South Korea, France, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Kosovo. Out of the all participants, 18 countries have won one medal at least.
