Railway wagons assembled in Mongolia
The first ever railway wagons that assembled in Mongolia, were transferred into service on 09 June, with joint efforts by the Ministry of Road and Transport Development, ‘Mongolian Railway” joint venture and private sector. Engineers of the Wagon Repair Department in Zuunkharaa, Selenge aimag noted that the five wagons assembled in Mongolia will serve for 30-32 years, while imported wagons from Russia and China have a useful life of 20-25 years.

Four bridges to be constructed in 2017 in Ulaanbaatar
The constructions of two bridges above the Tuul River have started with its groundbreaking ceremony on June 5. Specifically, the reconstructions of 312m long bridge in Bayanzurkh district and 289.4m long reinforced concrete bridge in Sonsgolon.

Naadam preparations with 60 percent completion
For preparation to the biggest national holidays of Mongolia – Naadam, running tracks of the Central stadium are being improved and parking spaces and roads outside the stadium are being expanded. Numbers of lightings and seats are being increased.

Young Mongolian actor B.Anand wins New Faces Award
Young Mongolian actor B.Anand won “New Faces Award” with his role Andrej Tschichatschow in film “Tschick” (also known as “Goodbye Berlin”) on April 27, 2017. Based on the bestselling 2010 novel “Why we took the car” by German author Wolfgang Herrndorf, the film was directed by a famous German film director, screenwriter and producer Fatih Akin.

General agreement of EUR50 million loan from Poland approved
Today, June 9, Parliament approved general agreement on tied aid between Governments of Mongolia and People’s Republic of Poland. Based on agreements during President Ts.Elbegdorj’s visit to Poland in 2013 and intergovernmental meetings, Polish Government decided to provide export loan of EUR50 million to Mongolia in compliance with procedure of tied aid or export loan of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

Counselling on cultivation being provided during open day event
Open days of food, agriculture and light industry sector are taking place on the Sukhbaatar Square. Crop planting has been made on 450 thousand ha of land nationwide and herders have received 20.6 million heads of offspring, highlighted State Secretary of Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry L.Bayartulga in his opening speech. He also noted that within the sector’s policy, several programs will be implemented, including First campaign of Meat and Milk, Mongolian animal, Cashmere, Third Cultivation Campaign and Industrialization 21:100.

Ulaanbaatar International Media Art festival begins
The Arts Council of Mongolia is hosting ‘Ulaanbaatar’ international media art festival for the second time from June 9 to July 9 at the Mongolian Modern Art Gallery in Ulaanbaatar. In the scope of the festival, a joint media exhibition under the theme ‘Vestige’ with attendance of artists from from Mongolia, the US, Austria, Germany, Israel, Netherlands, South Korea, Czech and the Philippines, a tour to produce a virtual movie showing the reintroduction and inhabitation of Takhi the Mongolian wild horse or Przewalski’s horse and training of media arts and a series of meetings named “Talks with Arts’  among artists.

Law on Prosecutor revised
The parliament adopted revised law on Prosecutor, during today’s plenary meeting. The bill, consisting of 8 chapters and 70 articles, was submitted last April. Law on Prosecutor’s office was adopted in 1993 and revised in 2002 and has being amended 8 times since then. The law was needed to be revised to coordinate the law with changes in social relations, judiciary reforms, renewed laws and bills applicable to criminal procedure.

Khukh Tsav Cement Plant to begin operation
The opening ceremony of Mongolyn Alt Corporation’s (MAK) Khukh Tsav Cement Plant is taking place today, on June 9. The cement plant, which was planned to start operating in the first quarter of 2017, is capable of processing 1 million tons of cement per annum. Located in Dalanjargalan soum of Dornogobi aimag, Khukh Tsav Cement Plant was established with a total investment of USD 331 million.

Excise tax on hybrid cars to be refunded
During the Parliament’s plenary session on June 8, the first reading of bill on Excise tax procedural regulations was held. In order to join the Extended Fund Facility program of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), amendments were made to the Excise Tax Law, resulting in excise taxes to be imposed on hybrid, natural gas and electric vehicles. Specifically, these types of cars, which had been exempt from excise tax, started paying taxes between MNT 375,000 and MNT 6,675,000 based on the vehicle's date of manufacture since May 1.
