Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. In the first 10 months of 2019, 23.0 million tonnes of freight and 2.5 million passengers (double counting) were carried by railway transport. Compared to the same period of the previous year, the carried freight increased by 2.0 million tonnes (9.4%) and the number of carried passengers increased by 304.1 thousand passengers (14.0%).

In October 2019, carried freight reached 2.6 million tonnes and increased by 171.0 thousand tonnes (7.0%) and the number of passengers were 316.8 thousand and increased by 55.7 thousand (21.4%) compared to the previous month.

In the first 10 months of 2019, 39.0% of carried freight by railway transport was domestic freight, 36.1% was exports, 10.8% was imports and 14.1 % was transit. Where, transit and export freights increased by 0.8 and 0.3 points, respectively, whereas domestics and import decreased by 0.7 and 0.4 points from the same period of the previous year.

In the first 10 months of 2019, 82.9% of carried freight by railway transport was mining freight, 10.3% was construction materials, 1.4% was iron, 1.3% was agriculture product, 0.9% was food products, 0.6% was wood products, 0.2% was factory equipment and 2.5% was other products.

The revenue from railway transport reached MNT 587.0 billion, increased by MNT 80.6 billion (15.9%) compared to the same period of the previous year. In October 2019, revenue from rail transport reached 61.6 billion, increased by MNT 2.2 billion (3.7%) from the previous month.

In the first 10 months of 2019, 4.8 thousand tonnes of freight carried by air transportation. The carried freight increased by 32.2 tonnes (0.7%) compared to the same period of the previous year. In October 2019, carried freight reached 523.4 tonnes and decreased by 71.7 tonnes (12.0%) compared to the previous month.

In the first 10 months 2019, the total carried domestic freight by air transport reached 67.7 tonnes (1.4%), showing a rise of 22.3 tonnes (24.8%) from the same period of previous year. The number of international carried freight reached to 4.7 thousand tonnes (98.6%), reflecting an increase of 54.5 thousand tonnes (1.2%) compared to the same period of previous year.

In the first 10 months of 2019, 1.4 million passengers (double counting) carried by air transport. The number of carried passengers increased by 177.7 thousand (14.6%) compared to the same period of previous year. In October 2019, 131.1 thousand passengers carried by air transport. The number of passengers decreased by 29.0 thousand (18.1%) compared to the previous month.

In the first 10 months 2019, the total carried domestic passengers by air transport reached 366.9 thousand passengers (26.3%) showing a rise of 34.2 thousand passengers (10.3%) from the same period of previous year. This was mainly affected by increase was 4.1 times the number of passenger Dalanzadgad and 7.7% increase in OyuTolgoi passengers.

In the first 10 months of 2019, the total carried international passengers reached to 1.0 million (73.7%), reflecting an increase of 143.5 thousand passengers (16.2%) compared to the same period of previous year. The increase was mainly due to the 7.2 times increase in passengers in Ulaanbaatar Hailar, Ulaanbaatar-Eren passengers by 2.8 times, passengers in Ulaanbaatar-Moscow 28.6 percent, Ulaanbaatar-Hong Kong passengers by 26.2 percent and Ulaanbaatar-Seoul passengers by 5.9 percent.

In the first 10 months of 2019, revenue from air transport (domestic airline) reached MNT 441.8 billion, increased by MNT 61.0 billion or 16.0% compared to the same period of previous year. In October 2019, revenue from air transport reached 32.9 billion, decreased by MNT 14.2 billion (30.2%) from the previous month.
