Delegates attend ‘Asia Pacific Partnership for Disaster Risk Reduction Forum’

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia L.Sayanaa, Deputy Head of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Colonel Ts.Ganzorig, and Head of the Foreign Relations Department Ch.Ariunaa are attending the Asia-Pacific Partnership for Disaster Risk Reduction (APP-DRR) Forum, which is taking place in Brisbane, Australia on November 12-13. About 150 representatives of 22 countries and 51 international organizations of the Asia Pacific region are participating in the forum.


The forum participants are holding discussions on the implementation of the Asia Regional Plan for Implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030, measures to be taken in the Asia-Pacific region, and the content of the 2020 Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction, which will take place in Australia in June 2020.


During the forum, the officials highlighted that it was the first case that involvement of persons with disabilities in disaster risk reduction operations was included in the ‘Ulaanbaatar Declaration’ that was approved at the Asian Ministerial Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction that took place in Ulaanbaatar in July 2018.


The Mongolian delegates also met with Member of Parliament of Australia Stirling Hinchliffe to discuss relations and partnership between the two countries in the sector of disaster management.
