On October 21-22, the Citizen’s Representative Khural and Governor’s Office of
the capital city are organizing the ‘Ulaanbaatar International Day’ event in
celebration of the 380th anniversary of the capital city.
The opening
ceremony of the event brought together over 60 individuals including MPs, government
officials, citizen’s representatives, and representatives from diplomatic
missions and international organizations in Mongolia and 16 sister cities of
Ulaanbaatar.
In his
opening remarks, Governor of the capital city and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar
S.Amarsaikhan said, “Ulaanbaatar maintains sister-city and friendly relationships
with over 40 cities. The first sister city relationship was formed with Moscow
in 1957 and the last with Nur-Sultan in 2019. As a metropolis, Ulaanbaatar has
many issues that have been partially addressed or have yet to be addressed. The
issues of air pollution, traffic congestion, public transport, and waste
management can be instanced here. To cope with these pressing issues, we are not
only sharing experience, strengthening people to people friendships, and
expanding economic cooperation with our sister cities, but also deepening
mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation in numerous fields such as urban green
spaces, planning, re-planning, and transport.”
“For the
anniversary celebration, we are aspiring to devise a creative action plan, conserve
and restore historical and cultural heritages, improve landscaping, increase
green spaces, and cooperate with foreign and national businesspeople and
private entities in doing so"
Minister of
Foreign Affairs D.Tsogtbaatar, Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry
D.Sumiyabaatar, Head of the Citizen’s Representative Khural of the capital city
